We’re looking forward to the first screenings of the new year today – the visually gorgeous and musically catchy Jungle Book plus the incredible Marion Cotillard mesmerises in Two Days, One Night. Saturday’s short from talented local film maker

As well as bringing you the best movies from around the world, we try to show some of the amazing films produced closer to home. This Saturday, before When We Were Kings, we have a brilliant twist on Hansel & Gretel to share, in the form of a short film by local, Rob Thorman. Shot in and around Great Missenden and Wendover, we think you’ll love the dark humour of the story, as well as enjoy spotting locations you recognise! Rob is currently producing (together with Ella Jones) a short film set in a parallel world where gender roles are reversed and a group of downtrodden men plan a sex strike against their wives! Your kids are a clever bunch.  Not only were they discerning enough to come and watch Bugsy Malone yesterday, but they produced some fantastic pictures of New York skyscrapers in the free craft session afterwards.  We had to share some of them with you…

Just the ticket for whisky lovers…

We’re very excited about our screening of The Angel’s Share – on Saturday 9th March 2013 at 8pm. Winner of the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film festival, this film (about Glaswegian hoods discovering the world of whisky) is a brilliant blend of Ken Loach’s trademark humour and realism.

Best yet, if you take your cinema ticket along to the Cross Keys straight after the screening, you will receive a discount on any whisky you order. What better way to spend a cold Saturday evening…
